About the European Congress for Integrative Medicine

About the society

The European Congress for Integrative Medicine (ECIM) - the joint congress for ESIM and ISCMR will take place online from 4 - 7 November 2021.

It was hoped the 13th congress would have taken place for the first time in the United Kingdom, however with the continued uncertainty and travel restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, ESIM, ISCRM and the organisers have taken the difficult decision to hold the congress online.

The congress aims to bring together medical doctors, practitioners, healthcare professionals, scientists, researchers, practitioners and health politicians to facilitate the advancement of healthcare systems that reaffirm the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focus on the whole person, and combine conventional medicine with safe and effective evidence-informed, lifestyle, complementary and traditional methods of treatment.

ECIM is a long-established event that was first launched in Germany in 2008 and has since been held in Italy, Spain, Denmark, Hungary, Slovenia and Serbia; attracting thousands of experts from throughout Europe with its largest event attracting over 1000 delegates.

Over the four days, the congress will feature senior level keynote speakers presenting evidence informed papers on the latest research and clinical application of integrative medicine, plus a large number of oral and poster presentations alongside an international exhibition of associations and companies providing integrative healthcare solutions.

The European Society of Integrative Medicine (ESIM)

ESIM is an international association with the aim to facilitate the advancement of science, research, education and further training, to support best and evidence based medical care and to provide advice on policy in the realm of Integrative Medicine (the interaction between conventional and complementary medicine based on evidence based results).

This includes holding the annual European Congress for Integrative Medicine and conducting dialogue with professional health care and public health associations and institutions.

The society is part of a global movement to orient care, and the education, research and policy that support it, towards a model that draws on biomedical, complementary and traditional medicine practices and respects multiple philosophies. The ESIM was one of the founding organisations that developed The Berlin Agreement: Self-Responsibility and Social Action in Practicing and Fostering Integrative Medicine and Health Globally: Berlin Agreement

The work of the ESIM is altruistic and seeks to be for the benefit of the general public.
