Group consultations to enhance practical cooking skills and knowledge to improve heart health-a social prescribing initiative.

Introduction: Social prescribing is an important way to resource communities and where healthcare practitioners can prescribe activities rather than pharmaceuticals. Building on experience of delivering cooking from scratch courses as part of the NCIM Food for Wellbeing services, we won funding from Health Heart  (FFHH)UK to deliver a range of Food for Healthy Heart classes in areas of social deprivation. One of the courses was delivered into a Men’s Shed initiative in Somerset.
